Large REPE firms doing small acquisitions + career advice

First, thanks to everyone on this thread - some very helpful people here.

Been doing REIB for a few months and realize it’s not the kind of experience I’m looking for. Prefer analyzing smaller, asset-level deals as opposed to entity transactions (which I’m doing now with REITs).

I was under the impression that larger firms (UMM+) only did entity-level, but after speaking to some people that doesn’t necessarily seem true. Anyone know of larger REPE firms that do small asset deals?

Separately, is it possible / advisable to move to one of these firms after only a year in IB? I don’t really enjoy my role and am quite confident my long term goal is REPE anyways…

Thanks!!

What do you not like about entity-level transactions? I'm trying to make the opposite move and thought asset-level transactions were boring.

My end goal is to do my own deals one day, either on the side or as my full time job, so thinking about real estate at the corporate level just doesn’t prepare me well in that regard. At the corporate level you’re also just not getting close to the RE, which I think would be much cooler. Guess it’s just a personal preference…
