Lateral Market Check - May 2025
Is anyone seeing a pick-up in job opportunities as we head into H2 2025? Have been looking to lateral for 6+ months now, but candidly haven't done much recruiting because there doesn't seem to be many acquisitions/originations roles, atleast at bigger funds in LA/NYC/SF.

If anything I've been seeing less in the past month than I was seeing in the first quarter. Looking at analyst roles on west coast only so may be different for assoc and/or in NYC.
Speaking from junior perspective who’s been looking for 1.5 years no the market has not picked up. If anything it’s slowed down compared to the perceived momentum from last year. Same focus on tier 1 markets, lots of fake jobs, or AM lateral that doesn’t make sense. Acq lateral are few and usually small groups. It’s tough
Only focusing on one market and it's very slow. I have done a lot of networking and it seems there was optimism in Q1 before tariffs derailed rate cuts and provided supply chain uncertainty. At this point, who knows what even next month will look like.
