LIHTC Syndication Firm Exit Opportunities

Hello All,

I spent 2 years as an analyst doing underwriting for investments/acquisitions at a REPE firm. I may be offered a position at a national LIHTC syndication firm doing acquisitions and closing transactions. I am wondering what exit opportunities look like if I were to go this direction and if REPE firms would value this experience similar to doing transactions at an REPE firm.

Thanks in advance. Happy to give more context if needed.

I am looking to exit the current shop I’m working at due to internal politics that I don’t want to deal with anymore; however, In the current climate, acquisitions analyst/associate jobs in REPE have not been plentiful and easy to obtain. This LIHTC opportunity fell in my lap and I think it sounds quite interesting, but I’m not positive that’s where I want to be long term. I’m wondering if this LIHTC experience would be seen as good experience to an REPE firm if I were to want to return back to it or if they would gloss over it as wasted time or minimize the experience.
