Made networking relationship with partner of REPE I'm an undergraduate and need help maintaining the connection.
I'm currently studying a bachelors in real estate & investment. Goal is REPE/Developer then run my own shop after doing my own deals.
My current situation:
1.5yrs into 3yr degree. Averaging 80% so still need to increase GPA.
While studying fulltime, I am undertaking fulltime work at a Valuation and Advisory Shop as a graduate. 52k package no bonus.
Not looking to do this for my whole career but figured good experience while in college still. Learning lease comps and all the valuation methods of commercial real estate.
When I get close to qualifying I'm going to do REFAI cert and others if need be inc Argus.
Basically the issue is that I've tried my hand at networking before and it's the main reason I have a fulltime job before graduating.
However my own goal is REPE and I found alumni on linkedin who are partners and fund managers at REPE firms. I reach out to one of the partners to ask about his career and how he found my degree etc etc. He suggested we get on a call and was super nice, so we scheduled the call, me freaking out that a partner of a large REPE fund was willing to spend the time.
We had a super good call and he gave me heaps of tips and advice and opened up a lot about his career and what he would have done differently.
Basically the call couldn't have gone better and he said pls get in contact in the future to keep tabs and stay in touch he mentioned once you finish your bachelors they'll consider me for a position due to my experience in development with family.
But to stay in contact regularly.
This was a couple of months ago and really not sure how to maintain this relationship and keep in contact with him without having a reason etc. If you guys have any tips on managing relationships with a REPE partner as an undergrad pls shout out.
