Manager cutting me out of internal networking events

Manager is inviting the rest of my team to internal networking events and lunches and introducing our team to execs who fly in from other offices, but has cut me out / not extended invite to me multiple times. I am an analyst and my manager is very very senior. I am Very clearly being singled out. I suspect part of this is because someone tipped my manager off that I was exploring roles outside of the company / recruiting elsewhere. I also expressed interest in transferring to another department internally and that process has not been the smoothest either (not many openings due to slow economic environment , etc). Am I on the chopping block?

If you ever notice anything that happens to you that doesn't happen to others, note it and start applying elsewhere as these things usually snowball.

Fucking hell, you're probably right. Not quite sure how I can rectify the situation as I barely have a chance to speak to them / meet with them anymore. Every time we have a catch up scheduled they cancel on me last minute. Time to look elsewhere I guess. I guess why not just can me tho? What’s the deal with all this back and forth subtle hits and playing these games ?

He/she is building support to get rid of you behind your back. Watch out for analysts allowing you to hear rumors about you that aren't true/sentiments being set that are from the manager's perspective (likely negative).

What does the background on this look like? Not as familiar, but did something else happen?

Maybe see if you can get coffee as a catch up, hear what they're working on, grab lunch. I'm an intern at a firm, but I go out of my way to talk to people ask about what they're doing, show interest in their areas of work. When getting coffee always say hi to people in the hallway and take a few minutes to ask what they did over the weekend. Obviously more of a reason on my end as I'm an intern, but sometimes too I'll stay late at work and walk over to more seniors people's desk and ask what they're working on and doing now lol. They work on deals and I ask them to send it to me if they're ok with it and then find time when they're free to discuss ask some quick questions (does this deal not make sense because of x, to make sense could we structure it as y is that even a thing).

Yup, leave. They don't think you want to be there, which you don't (looking for other roles and asked to transfer departments). If you show no interest in being a part of the team why would your manager try to make you feel like one? Time to move on.

In the future, do not tell coworkers when you're applying for new roles. You should never 100% trust a coworker - even if they are your friend you need to remember that ultimately you are vying for the same promotions, compared on the same review system, etc.

You haven’t been there a year, and you’ve already been looking to transfer internally? You kind of made the decision to be done with them first.

Yup, not denying that. Just protecting myself while I figure out other options. And most of us will make a decision to be done with our employer prior to them making the decision to be done with us so if it’s not a fit or there’s better opportunities, why waste time? Life is short. Gotta hustle. Playing it safe never got anyone anywhere amazing.

Looking for a job internally as a first year is a public FU. If you play that game, you have to accept the fallout.

could this be a troll post?

I mean it could be true, the fears expressed here. But all we know is the OP was not invited to some meetings, and there's this whole story built up of the manager building support to fire him and spreading rumors. If the manager wants to fire you, does he really need to do all of this? Not really. Why not just ask if you can go to the next meeting and see what happens? Maybe he'll say, "I'm so glad you asked, I was starting to think you didn't give a shit about what we do here."
