Meridian Capital Group

Has anyone worked there or have worked with them in the past. Interested to get any insights about the firm especially after shit hitting the fan with Freddie and Fannie.

They’ve always seemed a little off to me because of the high volume and a lot of times questionable sponsors.

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights about Meridian Capital Group:

  • Reputation and Business Volume: Meridian is respected for doing a lot of business, working on both big and small deals with local investors and institutional clients. They are known for their high volume of transactions.

  • Broker Quality: There is a mixed perception regarding the quality of brokers at Meridian. While some brokers are very good, others are considered less competent, which can affect the overall experience.

  • Exposure and Experience: Working at Meridian can provide significant exposure to various deals and clients. This can be beneficial for gaining experience, especially if you are focused on moving to the buy-side eventually.

  • Comparison with Other Firms: There is a debate about whether the exposure at Meridian is comparable to other firms like HFF or Eastdil. Some believe that the unique market position of boutique shops like Meridian in NYC offers distinct advantages.

  • Concerns: There are concerns about the firm's reputation, particularly regarding the quality of sponsors they work with. This can sometimes lead to questionable deals.

Not very clever sharks. Brokers from the same firm will reach out to do deals with landlords. They don't talk to each other across various teams which is even dumber. Not surprised they tripped up with Freddie & Fannie.
