Moving From Large Brokerage

I am currently three years in on an investment sales team for one of the large brokerages (CBRE/JLL/CW) and am fluent in ARGUS/excel/deal process/etc. My current goal is to work towards brokerage. However, since my current compensation is low, I have thought about making a shift to another firm while I pursue this. Has anyone left one of these large firms and have any tips for this process? Any ideas of natural transitions? I am interested in both the brokerage side and the principal side.
