MREIT first year analyst career path/exit opps?

Hey guys,

long time reader, first time poster. after graduating in May from a top 20 LAC with a low-ish GPA (3.2) and an econ major, I finally accepted an offer in CRE lending at a nonbank middle market firm in NYC. They are a mortgage REIT that deals with all asset types. Can anyone give insight on potential steps that would set me up for REPE? Thoughts on a masters in RE? MBA? Should I try to get into a bigger lender within 2-3 years doing the same thing? I got the role from a LinkedIn posting fwiw and my college does not have a strong presence in RE, but it's a good academic school, nonetheless. Any advice would be appreciated.
