New to Brokerage: Day to Day

Hello everyone, as the title says I'm new to commercial real estate. I joined a small brokerage in Chicago and will be an associate and was curious what I should be doing day to day my first week or two with no license. I have been put under a more senior broker who sends me OM's to learn and says I should keep up with real estate news, but overall there isn't too much to do outside of that. I am told it will take time to learn the industry, but overall seems like a great place and this senior is helping me a lot and I'm free to ask questions. I've been doing the work for my license, reading news, and reading whatever I'm sent. Anything else from experienced brokers what I should be doing? I will also be canvassing soon to get a feel for an area, but don't think I can do much without a license.
