Next job after 8 years as industrial investment sales broker?
I’ve spent 8 years as an industrial capital markets (IS) producer in a top 3 market and closed more the $1B in deals in that time. I’m ready for something new. Any suggestions on the most lucrative move with this experience?
Probably development? It sounds like you have the funds and connections to source your own deals. That being said though I know a few top IS guys in my market have recently “retired” until the market correction so they can go scoop up distressed deals.
Also, this makes me think the grass is always greener. I always assumed that being a top IS guy was the best gig in the business. Obviously other roles can net equal to or more income but being able to coast on an existing rolodex with 30-50 hour weeks and pulling in 7 figures always sounded pretty nice.
If this guy was pulling 7 figures he would not be looking to leave. Situations like that are rare and Would be even more rare after just 8 years
Any ideas what you want to do?? I mean jump to the buy-side is most obvious (like investment mngt, lending, or development). But is not that on your mind? Lucrative is really difficult to say, as that has far more to do with your own personal set of skills and desires.
