Options for George Washington University business student who interned at a public REIT.
I'm looking to get into Real Estate IB, and I've had two summer internships, both at the same publicly-traded REIT. I've applied to over two dozen finance and real estate related summer analyst positions for 2022, but besides a couple of one-way virtual interviews and a phone call with a VP, I haven't heard back from anybody. Does anyone have any banks/brokerage recommendations for someone who attends a nontarget school like myself or do?
George Washington is a solid school, albeit a nontarget. It seems like you just need to network a bit more since you have the experience and assuming you have the GPA as well. So just try to network a bit more with the companies you're applying to. Maybe 2/3 people for a place you're applying to, so you have several people talking about you.
Thank you for the suggestion. I've been going through employees at the firms I'm applying to on LinkedIn and have been reaching out to those who work in the same group I'm applying to. Do you have any other suggestions regarding networking?
That's good. Not sure if you do this, but after 3/4 days send a follow-up email, if they don't respond, then leave it. Also your email format is important to, make sure its somewhat personalized and not just a generic thing
