Overtime approval
According to internship offer I will need to get manager's approval to work overtime. REPE in acquisitions & development department. What kind of hours should I expect? Am I expected to just take base comp or can I get some extra comp with some overtime this summer?
Based on the most helpful WSO content, overtime policies and expectations can vary significantly depending on the firm and department. In your case, working in the REPE acquisitions and development department, here’s what you should consider:
Hours Expectation:
Overtime Compensation:

You do not need to work overtime as an intern - they won’t give you that much real work unless you’re in IB or maybe a mega fund. While internships should 100% be paid, if you’re focused on maximizing earnings you’re focusing on the wrong thing.
Literally just standard legal lingo b/c you’re an hourly employee
I would not expect to receive any overtime tbh. I also would not bring it up unless you are actually grinding.
Hah, this brings back memories. I was an hourly intern as a summer associate and got in trouble with HR for working over 40 hours a week. Fun times.
Don't expect to make any extra money this summer.
OT, unless in IB you won't hit it, this is lingo needed due to being a Hourly employee. Most interns at most shops unless a dragging shop are more like 30-35 hours a week. I know right now many aren't having interns on the clock on Fridays.
