Portfolio or Asset Management —> Acquisitions
How hard is it to switch from PM/AM to acquisitions. I’m an associate at a large institutional firm (tier 1 marker).
I’m an associate with 4 years of exp. I have experience across the board from working on ground-up developments, re-developments, core products, but not actually working on the site acquisition or acquisition itself (would help here and there on underwriting), but know the ins and outs of modeling these, as I “own” the models from the day 1 of ownership.
How hard do you think it would be to switch into an acquisitions role at another large institutional firm? Feel like I’m qualified, not getting much traction on applications.
I’m making ~160 all-in, so don’t really want to take a pay cut.
Is this a hard switch? I really didn’t think it would be this tough. Or do you think it’s more so a function of the general job market right now in real estate?
