RE Development - Tips

I’m currently interning at a development office at Trammell Crow Residential in Texas. I have one more semester left of college before I graduate with a degree in construction management.

I really enjoy learning this industry and am excited to keep it going. I know getting into development can be difficult, especially in a down market.

Unfortunately I don’t think that my office will plan on hiring any analyst anytime soon, as they run very lean (4 people on development team).

I am wondering if anyone has any tips/advice on how I should go about pursuing a career in development. I’m open to just about any suggestions

I am thinking about getting a masters in real estate or MBA to gain more financial knowledge, while also giving the market time.

I am also thinking about starting in capital market or brokerage, and working my way into development.
