Real Estate Career Help
Hey everyone,
I hope you're all good amidst this craziness. I'm going into my senior year and looking for some advice in a somewhat bleak situation. After a PE internship sophomore year, that worked primarily with real estate, I realized that working in something like real estate asset management instead of PE might be a good move for me. I ended up networking pretty hard and landed an internship with the asset management boutique covering real estate. That offer got pulled in March due to COVID and left me scrambling for an internship. I ended up getting a finance internship at a local healthcare startup out of sheer luck and desperation. I still want to try and transition back into real estate. Is it still possible at this point? How would I even tailor my story back to real estate? Just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions on what I should do.
Keep networking, applying, and practice financial modeling from scratch. You have real estate finance experience on your resume and even had an FT offer. In future interviews, just explain what happened due to Covid and they should understand and honestly, if i were the interviewer, i'd be impressed by the hustle to pick up an internship so quickly.
I’d advise you to aim for IB, because simply it’s IB>= PE >>>>>>> RE
