Real estate internship in London

Hello everybody,

I m currently a student doing a gap year and I m currently doing an internship as a strategist assistant. However I am realizing that I m not a market driven person and I need something more down to earth. I already had some interviews with JLL or CBRE and had a great time talking with their people. However I would prefer to have an internship in a real estate fund in acquisition (ideally REPE).

What should I do? Have an internship in JLL or one of those firms to have a better understanding of the business and try to break in acquisition later? Try to do IB and go in a fund after that? Or should I try to network my way into one of those funds?

A last question : how is structured finance in a bank seen in the real estate space? Does it provide good exit opps?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi, I currently work at a PERE Fund.

No idea how you came to the conclusion that it is easy to get into a PERE fund from a strategist position.

Most people here get recruited from IBD BB from the City.

Definitely go to JLL first and then try to network yourself in afterwards. You'll need strong modelling skills.

Hope this helps.
