Curious how common signing bonuses are in development. My impression is they exist in REPE but haven't heard much about development. Anyone know?

I haven't seen many/any signing bonuses, but I've seen a couple thousand dollars for a "moving stipend," which always cracks me up because it's usually with your first paycheck so by then you've already moved and paid for your move. This past summer, as a summer associate in development, I got $2,000. I'd imagine full time would be more.
If someone gives me a few thousand upfront or with my first paycheck, though, I don't really care what they call it.
does this really matter? this guy posts so many questions that miss the big picture. biglaw pay bumps? development vs acquisitions pay? how much of the commission at eastdil goes to the analyst?
I'm not missing anything. I'm posting questions that I think others might have too in the hope of establishing at least some form of reference point for those without one.
i just got a $5K "signing bonus" to relocate to NYC for one of the top Fannie/ Freddie shops. CRE was correct, it came in my first paycheck. Therefore, it's really just $ for your first excellent weekend wherever you move.
