Suggestions for landing a development management role

Hi all - I have about 10 years experience in commercial construction management and owners representation, and am looking to gain some experience in the investment side of the business (feasibility / pro forma analysis / investment decision making), while leveraging my knowledge of the development execution lifecycle.

I recently had several interviews with a development arm of one of the big asset managers, with positive feedback from the hiring manager, but am now being entirely ghosted by the HM and recruiter. I was super jazzed about the firm but now there is a sour taste in my mouth.

Any firms currently on a hiring kick for this type of role? Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

They have probably moved on, sounds like what has happened to me in the past when I was switching from GovCon, heavy infrastructure. They had you and maybe another applicant or two. They were waiting to see if their top choice accepted the role. Once they pass the background check someone will reach out and send over a rejection, if they even do that.

Recruiters and Managers ghost all the time, yet get angry when you don't respond quick enough. Don't let it be a bad taste, business is like that these days. My last switch I had applied to 45 places and interviewed at probably 30 of them. I was being picky, but also getting turned down for the places I'd considered. Then my current role it happened quick and was hired at the top of the comp range I was looking for. It happens when it happens just don't give up if you truly want to make a switch.

For the moment on the MF side things are slowing down drastically, people are adjusted and many firms have cash to burn but are burning quicker than anticipated and are starting to slow in hiring. At the same moment it's a hard market to look as new graduates are coming into the market and many firms have additional entry level work covered by interns.

I'm seeing Mortgage brokers starting to lay off newer employees and recent grads, so firms will take notice and it'll trickle to other avenues in RE.
