Taking a commercial real estate career abroad

From the point of view of an American transitioning into an investment sales analyst position with an HFF/CBRE/Cushman, how in the world would one take a career to another part of the world - in particular, Scandinavia or the UK? Real estate has obvious spatial elements that seem to make it more difficult to transfer from one place to another but this has been a goal for me for a long time. Is it even really doable, or would it have to be MBA > consulting/other finance?
