Anyone have tips for best practices on how to deal with the third party recruiters (Bellcast, Oxbridge, etc). After you speak with them initially, do they typically keep firing off emails or should you reach out every month or so to check in?
Most of the time when they reach out it is because they are doing an active search. Following up a couple of times is probably fine if you are in a process, but otherwise keep it to like once every 6 months or so. If nothing is new on your side, then there isn’t a whole lot to talk about.
If you are in a live interview process via a headhunter and have progressed through multiple rounds, is it acceptable to follow up with your interviewers or is that considered “going behind the recruiters back”?Had an interview with a member of the team who mentioned they’re looking to finalize the process in a couple weeks. A couple weeks passed and I emailed the recruiter for an update and they did not have any update. Would it be bad to reach out to my interviewer who mentioned they were looking to wrap things up asap?
If so, then I wouldn't go behind the recruiters back because in that situation everything goes through the recruiter anyways so it would just be a big circle.
If it isn't a retained search, then I would probably at least let the recruiter know that I was going to reach out.
I’m not quite sure to be honest. My understanding is this third party recruiter was hired by X firm to recruit talent. The third party recruiter reached out to me initially sharing info about the role. I expressed interest and then kicked off the interview process. I have had a few rounds and all has been coordinated / scheduled by the third party recruiter. This recruiter is one I would like to maintain a relationship with. Given that, I’ll probably hold off on further communication and limit it to the recruiter. Also, this is for an associate level position at a large PE firm.
