Tips for Associate REPE Role Recruiting

Hi all - title really says it all. Any tips when it comes to recruiting for Associate REPE roles in major East Coast MSAs like NYC, Miami, DC, etc.? I am specifically looking for Acquisitions or Asset Management roles.

My background is I have been at a megafund on the asset management side for three years and honestly have not been too proactive when it comes to looking for new jobs thus far. Typically I interview through recruiters, who send me new roles 2-3 times per week. I also look on LinkedIn/Selectleaders, but have found that there are very few good Associate REPE roles on those sites lately.

Recently, I have decided to buckle down on recruiting and expedite my timeline to getting a new job. Do you have any recs on what I could do to get the ball rolling faster? I know that some people might say to leverage my network but part of the issue with that is a lot of my network is very connected to my MD at my current firm.

Have you gotten good looks anywhere?

My 2cents as someone with 3 yrs of sell-side transaction experience at asset level and corporate level... it’s tough out there. I used to say “I’m only looking for X role in Y city”. But now I’ve definitely been forced to say “I’m open to X, Y, Z role in cities A, B, C.”

There are a lot of candidates with prior REPE acquisitions experience moving around and they will almost always take priority over you. Just get to the REPE acquisitions side ASAP and worry about finding the perfect firm later
