Top Debt Brokerage Teams in NYC
What are the top debt brokerages teams in NYC? On the investment sales sides, we have the Harmon/Spies team at C&W, Stacom/Shanahan at CBRE, etc. What are their equivalents on the debt brokerage side?

Aaron Appel does really well

I've only heard terrible things about both these guys
They're brokers. What do you expect? Ethics don't pay the bills
Not sure why the MS. Agreed on the terrible things about them, but you can’t argue that they are a top team, which was OP’s question.
Interviewed with them, the team seemed nice and were smart but overall frat like culture which is what I heard before going in. Very smart guys, but again seemed like a wild/less professional place than say CBRE. I've interviewed in person at CBREs offices in New York and way different feeling than there, less professional and organized but seeing a lot of deals.
Just curious if you can elaborate a bit on this.
Aaron Appel’s / Walker & Dunlop team is probably the top
Also Adam Hakim/James Murad at Meridian are killer
Hakim and Murad are great guys. Used to work with them way back when. Super sharp dudes
Ethics aside, Stolly & Jordy are #1 and Appel is #2.
After that it’s probably JLL as a whole, although Gigliotti, Peck, and Goldstein seems like the top dog there I guess. lot of heavy hitters that do a lot of business.
After that - Frankel and co. at Eastdil, Traynor and Millon at CBRE, and Gideon Gill at Cushman also do a ton of institutional business.
Ackman Ziff’s top teams also produce a ton (Jason Krane, Russ Shildkraut, etc…) but not a lot of institutional clients.
Meridian’s two strongest teams for “institutional” deals are probably Hakim and Murad and then Morris Betesh. Would throw them after the ones above.
Agreed on this - I would also add some smaller shops as well like HKS, Cooper-Horowitz, GCP Capital, Henry Bodek etc.
JLL and Eastdil IMO are the best. Eastdil for any large complex single asset or portfolio deals.
Dustin and team are definitely great but I see them on more deals representing your typical hard nosed gritty NYC owner/developers who may not give two shits about ethics and just want the best deal they can find to please their pool of 100 syndicated investors.
