Top Real Estate Consulting Firms

Posted this over in the consulting forum and didnt get any takers...

Who are some of the big names (firms) in real estate consulting?

Obviously i know: cushman, cbre, JLL, who are some of the other big players?

Any of the top management consultants have strong real estate practices?

That's because the big consulting firms don't have a "real estate practice." The big 4 tend to have groups that offer RE consulting, but it's nowhere near as sought-after or selective as a job at MBB. It's really not the same.

djc225that's kind of what i gathered from looking at the MBB websites. So who are some of the top real estate dedicated consultants other than those I listed above?
Still not sure. With regard to those you listed above, if someone told me, "I work in consulting at JLL/CBRE/etc.," I would have no idea what he does for a living. Maybe this is a reflection of my young age and relative inexperience, but I'm just being honest.

But as I mentioned above, I am familiar with what the big 4 do. If somebody told me, "I work in RE advisory/consulting at E&Y/PWC/etc.," then I would understand.

What exactly is there to consult in real estate? Brokerage firms deal with investors on a day-to-day basis and occasionally help reposition investments. Institutional investors acquire property and resort to their asset management team to generate favorable returns. Real Estate "consultants" are nonexistent.

Even if they do exist, they don't have the same prestige as MBB. You're better of obtaining experience at the brokerage, asset management or buy-side level.
