Transition from Asset Management to Debt & Equity Placement
Hey everyone,
I wanted to get your feedback on something. I have an asset management junior internship at a fairly large REIT that only focuses on one asset class.
Even though I have interest in that class, I want to be able to be exposed to many more in the future order to land an analyst position at a top PERE within the next few years.
How well do you think I can recruit for debt and equity placement jobs at places like HFF, JLL, or CBRE after graduation? I have a great GPA (3.82) from a semi-target school and I believe I can network well between now and graduation next year.
You’ll be fine. You’re an intern. Everyone will recognize that. And plus, asset management will never stop someone from moving to brokerage.
Also interest in this!
Thanks for the input! I know these debt and equity placement shops ask for an excel test during the interview process sometimes. How would you recommend I prepare for such tests even though these shops know that I was doing an AM internship the last summer?
Get REFM is good for learning excel. So is BReaking Into Wall Street. They are expensive though. You can probably search this forum and find some practice materials floating around too.
