Transition to Commercial RE

Ive been a mortgage broker on the residential side for many years looking to break into commercial real estate as a loan officer or analyst. Is there a way to make yourself a better candidate before applying if I have no experience in commercial? Is there a path- for example, learn real estate modeling, get argus certified, etc. Just looking for some kind of blueprint to have on resume when applying.
