Turning Down Offer - Questions

Hey Everyone,

I went through two processes simultaneously. One was a role (Job #1) I had interviewed for full time, they didn't continue the process and I didn't hear back from them. I inquired about an internship/part time role at a later date after I enrolled in masters program and ended up getting an offer. After going through both processes, I decided to take another opportunity (Job #2) that aligns more with what I want to do long term and feel bad since I restarted the process months later and they wouldn't have gone through this process without that/spent all the time on interviews, etc.

I will obviously send a sincere thank you email for the offer (or should I call?), great meeting them, the team, etc but is it just business is business or should I feel a little weird about rejecting it since I was the one who reinitiated the conversation?
