Wells Fargo CRE Interview

Hey everyone,

I just found out today I have been selected to interview with Wells Fargo for a 2019 financial analyst internship in their commercial real estate division. This means I could potentially be working in anything from REIT finance or capital markets to commercial mortgage servicing and real estate merchant banking.

I interned with a real estate developer in New York City this past summer so I know a bit about the industry, but was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to prepare/what to expect from this interview. I'm not sure if it will be behavioral or technical but it's on campus and in person so I want to be prepared for anything. Thanks, guys.

"west273" Wells typically asks basic accounting technical questions and then standard fit questions - Why RE? Why Wells Fargo? I suggest being able to talk about current RE trends, your background in the industry and valuation metrics

Not at Wells myself, but another large bank.

This is the gist of it. At that level, the questions aren't going to be too in-depth. If you have more 'technical' experience on your resume, which you seem like you do, then they'll probably skew their questions more towards that. As in, you should know basic CRE terms such as cap rate, NOI etc.

Make sure you're able to tell your story (i.e. key takeaways from your internship, why RE, why Wells like west273 mentioned) concisely and be prepared for them to ask more follow up questions on your internship as it's most relevant.
