WF CRE Analyst Program Exit Ops

In the middle of a process for one of the teams within Wells Fargo CRE. I was wondering if anyone knew what exit ops are possible with the role. Not looking to use this role as a stepping stone but it’d be nice to know that I have options.

For more context, I am asking about a team that directly lends to clients (REB, CMBS teams, etc).

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some potential exit opportunities for a role within the Wells Fargo CRE Analyst Program, particularly for teams that directly lend to clients such as REB and CMBS teams:

  1. Real Estate Private Equity (REPE): Many analysts transition to roles in REPE, focusing on multifamily acquisitions or other real estate investments.
  2. Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs): Opportunities in REITs, especially in acquisitions or asset management, are common exits.
  3. Debt Placement: Continuing in debt placement roles, either within the same firm or at other financial institutions.
  4. Credit Funds: Moving to credit funds that focus on real estate debt.
  5. Corporate Development: Transitioning to corporate development roles within real estate firms or related industries.
  6. Brokerage Firms: Positions at top brokerage firms like CBRE, JLL, or Eastdil Secured, often in investment sales or capital markets.

These exit opportunities provide a broad range of career paths, ensuring flexibility and growth potential in the real estate finance industry.

“Hey guys I’m interviewing for a job right now. Don’t even have it yet. What can I do when I quit?”

...but is it REPE?

Got it. What if 1st year analyst was looking to lateral to an analyst program at a top debt fund/REPE? Assuming they’d start over as an An1 at the new shop, does 1yr in CRE at a top bank lender open those doors to lateral?
