What do you know about Grosvenor Fund Management?
I have a meeting with a MD on Tuesday. I know these guys are a major Britain based repe investing in most of the property types through debt and equity. They do acquisition, disposition, portfolio management, and Asset Management. And it seems most of their investors are pension funds/insurance companies.
I figured there is a chance someone on here might have worked with them on a more intimate business level setting. So, does anyone here have some firsthand knowledge/understanding of the way this firm works/does business?
I know nothing about the fund, but I do know of the family - money does not get older. They literally built most of west london (Belgravia, Mayfair, Chelsea etc) singlehandedly and own most of it free-hold. Biggest real-estate family in the UK and the richest of the aristocracy. They hold the dukedom of westminster and the head of the family, Gerald, is in the order of the garter as well, tells you a lot of their influence in London circles.

Worked a bit with them in an IBD RE team. They are massive and literally own most of Kensington / Chelsea / Knightsbridge. Almost entirely ultra-prime residential, some extremely upmarket residential. Huge overseas residential clientele.
Fine reputation as a real estate asset manager. However, they mostly asset manage separate accounts and don't have much of a discretionary fund platform, which they're trying to build (at least here in the US). Their strategies also tend mostly toward core and core plus stuff. They are not known as an opportunistic sponsor.
Would you consider their approach/strategy similar to PREI? (I know Grosvenor's US portfolio is much smaller comparatively speaking.)

PREI is much larger and has many more strategies. Yes, PREI does a lot of separate account and core-type investments. But they have a much larger funds platform and do some value-add, opportunistic, and high-yield debt investments as well.
