Working for a company is RE strategy?

Does or has anyone here taken a role for in-house RE strategy and analysis? Think along the lines of a bigger company, ~$1bn-$2bn in retail sales? I so, what do you do and how is it different from your expectations? Also, in a role like this, anything to look out for?

Oddly enough my wife does this. Really good pay for what it is.

The main difference is that I handle 2-3 deals at a time, soup to nuts, and am in charge of literally every element of it. She handles 75-100 deals at a time and is in charge of an absolute fraction of the process. My job is a inch wide but a mile deep and hers is a mile wide and an inch deep, if that makes sense.

If you have any specific questions, I can ask her
