Worst intern experiences?

For those who have been an intern, or worked directly with one, I’m curious to hear if you have any horror stories to share. Maybe things that occurred while you were an intern or things an intern did (if working with one) that were poorly done. Partially looking for interesting stories but also things to avoid at all costs

Have several more stories although not at intern levels. Place was pretty wild.

  1. At a client dinner, MD grabbed a client by the throat for calling him a peado - he couched his sons rugby team.
  2. Same MD threw a chair at a director - can't remember the context.
  3. That director collapsed on the floor one day from exhaustion - guy was working crazy hours
  4. A director and VP were sleeping with the same EA from another team - both didn't realise this until a few months in
  5. A French associate got sent home from a client event for impersonating Chinese people - he did pulled his eyes to the side and did a pretty terrible accent since he's French

There's definitely more, will update if I can remember them.

Not an intern, but we had a first year analyst who had no common sense in terms of how to carry himself in a professional setting. Constantly talking to VP/director and above about how he blacked out the previous weekend, girls he was hooking up with, etc, and proceeded to get WAY too hammered at a company event.

You could tell the majority of the seniors he was telling this to were not impressed at all and didn't find it amusing. Dude sucked at his job to boot. Only made it about 8 months.

Completed internship in most sweaty team at BlackRock - my associate brought me into a meeting room after I sent him a memo with 3 grammatical errors, locked the doors and began berating me and throwing out slurs. He was 100% a roid-head and was taking it out on me since I was the junior. Fucking brutal for me back in the day. Did not accept return offer but also did not report to HR to maintain relationships with the rest of the team.
