Wtf do I do. Have an offer that’s a 2nd choice position

So I received an offer at a well known CRE brokerage. The current offer is $80K base + 25 percent bonus ($100K TC). It’s a credit role as far as I know.

I am still waiting for this other company to follow up with me for next round of interviews since the recruiter told me that I would be an excellent fit for the position, since it’s essentially what I’m doing now.

I have sent 2 follow up emails in the last 3 weeks. I feel like I’m being ghosted but heard this company is extremely slow with this stuff.

Should I just accept the offer and rescind if I receive another offer from my preferred position? The other position would also have a higher TC.

Accept the offer, while some people say it's bad practice it is usually Hiring people that say that. Priority number one is yourself and family. It happens quite frequently in this current job market.

Think of it this way, when the market was bad for employees trying to leave, the firms ghosted or would tell you months later you didn't get the job. Many firms move fast on their first choice and regular to slow pace on their second choices, just so if the first choice turns them down they will hire the second choic

Not fully saying that. They could just be slow as well. But never give up one job for the possibility of another, unless you are comfortable where you currently are and being picky.

Some places will hold out for a while to see all the applicants they get and lose potentially great candidates. I know two firms that did this with me, my current role hired me the second they heard I had a power day the following Monday.

The firm with the Power day had taken weeks at each stage and gave me a bit of a attitude when I cancelled, so it could be they just don't adapt to the current job market
