IlliniProgrammer3.9 could just as easily be a 3.86. I would put down 3.91.
Agreed...if I see a gpa listed with only one decimal place, I assume that it has been rounded up.
Impossible is nothing

OP, just stick with 3.91, you will not be punished for greater specificity. IlliniProgrammer is correct, why leave any ambiguity between a 3.86 and a 3.91?

You're in a competition and, however marginal it may be, you shouldn't handicap yourself because idiots on a site say otherwise.

euroaznI'm surprised you're not rounding that up to a 4.0 I mean what could possibly go wrong

Well, for starters, YOUR knowledge of elementary mathematics.

^ I don't think anyone would round a 3.86 to a 3.9. But, I have seen 3.785's and the like rounding to a 3.8, for instance.

Well, there have been people that have posted in the past about rounding a 3.0 to a 3.8 so I don't see why there aren't a few people that would take a 3.86 to a 3.9, at least that is technically correct if you only go to tenths.

are u kidding? ive heard of people rounding a tenth and above...4 hundredths is nothing

In all seriousness, put 3.91. As before, 3.9 could be interpreted as "this guy rounded up." Put 3.91 and if you round out at all just put 4.0.

in it 2 win it

People still list GPAs on resumes? wtf? dude you need to start listing more relevant things like MPH (an estimation of how fast you can run, do NOT round this number)....also things like TPS (texts per second), WPBV (women per bar visit....please don't include drunk women in this metric...thats like listing only a major GPA on your resume...shit is misleading).

I don't understand why so many people are bashing him for asking this question. It's a legitimate question and he's looking for an answer.

My college lists my GPA with three decimals - and that's exactly what I put on my resume. To OP: Be as specific as possible.

Pro tip: As someone who reviews resumes, if you bring that three decimal bullshit into my house, you're not getting an interview.
