Can I put an internship I’ve not started yet on my CV?
Hi guys, applications have been opening for 2025 summer internships and I’m in the process of applying to some and I was wondering if it’s acceptable to put an internship that I’m starting this summer on my CV?
No one is stopping you I guess. In the interview room you're just going to have a hard time making shit up about an experience you don't have, and the person across the table is likely going to see through your tricks right away.
There won’t be anything to see through when it comes to interview time as I’ll most likely be doing the internship by then, I was thinking of maybe just putting the responsibilities I’m going to have from their job description. Without having a previous internship on there I think I’ll have a hard time getting to an interview tbh
My apology for jumping to conclusion. In that case I'd suggest you to put it on there. Since you haven't actually started working there, I'd just briefly list the group and responsibilities. By the time you are working though, the experience can be used to show how you have driven positive results / tangible outcomes in a professional setting.
You can put incoming intern with a bullet point about what group or whatever. Make it clear that this is the internship you are doing this upcoming summer though and not already completed.
