CV Advice - Non Target UK
I was able to get some competitive work experience at brand name firms. Recently a banker advised me to start my CV with the work experience section. But not sure if that will pass with HR as it is expected to begin with education.
What do you guys think? should I start my CV with Work experience instead of Education
Starting with work experience would look a little weird for a UK CV but I see the logic. Your CV might be dismissed by some as soon as they see you are non target so get your selling point(i.e. Work experience) read before they see where you study. I would be tempted to risk it.
Can see it both ways. If I were in this situation I'd do: WE -> EC -> Educ -> Additional, but it's up to you.
HR usually use a points based system to score CVs, so I don't think this wouldn't make a difference on that front.
UK CVs generally tend to start with education.
What you could do is just have a very small education section (i.e. only university) and have work experience right below that, so anyone giving it a first glance will see that as well. Then you A level/GCSEs can go further down on the page.
Ultimately, if you don't put your education first, anyone reading is going to think 'where the hell is the educational background' and look for it anyway. There's no hiding.
