Moving from investor relations to more analytical role?

I graduated last year and after working in a non finance role for a year (marketing research analyst), I switched to investor relations at a boutique asset management firm in NYC. I studied a humanities major at an Ivy League. I think my school is what got me in the door at my firm but don’t expect this to get me much further. Honestly, I never was interested in finance in undergrad but so far have really liked it and would like to move into a more analytical role and open myself up to broader opportunities. I know however I am definitely not positioned for this at the moment so would love some advice on how to improve my resume. Ie, would a CFA be a viable option? Or should I just try to reset with an MBA? Any ideas or direction would be appreciated.
