MS Early Insights program (and similar) on resume?

Specifically apply for junior summer internships, Is it worth putting MS Early Insights program (or other similar) on my resume? I think I'm decently well rounded but I know my definite weak point is I lack relevant financial experience, bc I'm not one track focused on finance.

Specifically, thoughts on leaving Early Insights while apply for competitors such as JPM or GS? Is it an unnecessary risk because it may appear to decrease demonstrated interest?

Including programs like the MS Early Insights on your resume can be a strategic move, especially if you're lacking direct financial experience. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s how to approach it:

  1. Highlight the Value: These programs demonstrate initiative, interest in the industry, and exposure to financial concepts. They can help bridge the gap if you're light on direct finance experience.

  2. Tailor for Competitors: When applying to competitors like JPM or GS, it’s not necessarily a risk to include MS Early Insights. Instead, frame it as a learning experience that enhanced your understanding of the industry, without overemphasizing the specific firm. Focus on transferable skills or insights gained rather than the association with Morgan Stanley.

  3. Placement on Resume: If you’re concerned about signaling too much loyalty to MS, consider listing it under a broader section like "Leadership & Development Programs" or "Professional Development," rather than under "Work Experience."

  4. Demonstrated Interest: To counteract any perceived lack of interest in JPM or GS, ensure your application materials (cover letter, networking efforts, etc.) strongly convey your enthusiasm for their specific programs and culture.

Ultimately, including such programs can strengthen your profile, provided you position them thoughtfully.
