Omitting job from resume

About 3 years ago I was let go from my IB role at a BB as part of a large round of redundancies. Following 6 months of unsuccessful job search I landed a role at a Chinese bank (really as a stopgap), and left 6 months later to join a large US PE shop.

I am considering applying to other PE roles and thinking whether to omit that 6-month experience from my CV.

Reasons are: 1) The brand is much weaker vs the rest of my CV (2 BBs), and 2) the short time spent there makes me think I might look slightly flaky (noting this was my 3rd job out of 4 - I'm now 32 yo).

I would appreciate receiving any advice from the community! Are there any obvious risks in doing so? Could this be considered a "lie" on the CV and get me into any sort of trouble?
