PhD student seeking advice, zero financial background, appreciate any criticism
I am hoping to land a job as a quant/dev in an investment bank or hedge fund this fall. I know having zero experience is a big disadvantage but I also noticed many companies seem to not care too much about that for quant jobs (by quant I mean researchers or similar ones). One of my colleagues has already started working for an HF and that gave me some confidence.
I noticed not too many STEM graduate students hang out here yet I genuinely appreciate any feedback. Specifically I wanted to ask:
- I tried to emphasize my quantitative work in the past years with contributions shown in numbers. Are those too detailed?
- I did my undergrad in China and we did not have a GPA system like those in US here. Should I convert by myself?
- Is "Leadership" still needed for a PhD like me?
