Way way way too many words
^^ This. Please summarize - making concise points is also a skill for your professional life and essential for executive communication. Also, I'd suggest you remove that "Interests" section entirely (last sentence of your resume).
I was told to minimize white space entirely. also the interest section is there because my entire resume is finance without it. Would it still be a good idea to get rid of it?
Dude anyone who gets this isn't going to even look at this. It'll go right into the rejection pile.
Way way way too many words man. I get you want to list everything you've done but keep this in mind, the people who are reviewing your resume will look at it for seconds.
I work at a regional IB, we get several hundred applications for internships. The senior analyst who reveiws and determines which candidates to setup a phone interview with literally has a stack of resumes in front of him. He'll look at it for 10 seconds max before moving to the phone interview or rejection pile.
lol @ having tv shows on your resume
edit: lol @ one of them being American Ninja Warrior
I got asked in an interview what my favorite shark tank deal was and that basically took over the entire conversation leading to an offer
Few small suggestions:
Overall looks good. Good luck!
What about a TV show? Shouldn't that be italicized when referring to it in writing? Also what if I've only taken one finance course. Hahaha I front loaded all of my accounting major courses in my freshman and sophomore year.
Some of the things I noticed: - Why do you have your competitions listed in awards AND in your leadership experience. To be quite frank I don't see that as leadership experience. Something more along the lines of a position in a club or something. I would completely get rid of it from your leadership experience portion and instead just keep it in your awards section - You misspelled Ph.D - Don't use an ampersand every chance you get - Don't include many bullet points on things that don't seem as important (i.e. being a RA), you wanna focus on the big things a lot but having equal bullets makes it seem like they're equal - Remove the activities portion on the bottom because that's literally the rest of your resume - Remove the parentheses around the microsoft office suite portion (everyone knows what it is) - I think you should also remove the GPA portion from the bullet points and have it just fall under the education - Your overall GPA is high enough where it doesn't matter to include your major GPA but you can keep it if you want
SB'd. I listed them in both leadership and awards because I specifically wanted to highlight the M&A competition as a talking point during an interview. The other two competitions have absolutely nothing to do with IB. Also -- at least the case competitions I've participated in were not part of a club and definitely a display of leadership in terms of taking initiative.
PM me your final resume after the updates and I'll help you out.
All bullets should begin with a past tense verb
Typo with your school -- should read "Target". Attention to detail is big in this industry.
For real though, on your undergrad description you have "P.H.D" students...should be "Ph.D." students or "PhD" students if you're referring to doctoral candidates.
Yeah, I'm an idiot. I fixed that though. Did you notice any other ATD errors?
