Ugh frustrating GPA rounding on resume question
CGPA: 3.86 Major GPA: 3.96
How would you round this on your resume?
At first I was thinking "cGPA: 3.9/4.0, major GPA: 4.0/4.0" but then I realized it would be a bit deceptive since I didn't really get a perfect major GPA.
But if I do "cGPA: 3.9/4.0, major GPA: 3.96/4.00" people might ask, why did you use different significant digits? Are you an idiot?
Should I just list out 3.86/4.00, 3.96/4.00? A 3.9/4.0 looks so much sexier than a 3.86/4.00 though...

Don't round to 4.0 unless you want to look like a dumbass when they see your transcript. Personally, I'd just list "GPA: 3.9/4.0" and be done with it--there's no need to list a major GPA when you've got a 3.9 cumulative.

This is the first post I've read here that actually pissed me off. Clearly with a 3.9 cgpa you're smart enough to figure out this ridiculous issue on your own. Wah Wah Wah I don't want to round to 3.9 and then leave 3.96 and risk the question of why are you using different decimals? Are you fucking serious? This post is clearly to flaunt your plump GPA. The "Ugh, I didn't get the job with my 3.86 because there was another applicant with a 3.861... I knew I should've rounded up!" story, doesn't exist.

Duke, you obviously tried really hard for a 4.0 and failed. TRIED AND FAILED 3.96 clearly highlights that. If you had like a 3.66, they'd be like alright, this kid isn't really shooting for a 4.0, but he still does very well, but the 3.96? this is gonna be the fucker that will choke under pressure and bring the entire project down. No matter how hard he tries, he just can't help coming short.

I have a 3.67 cumulative at a semi-target school. I know a popular cut-off between good and outstanding is a 3.7. I think it's appropriate for me to round to 3.7, but would like to hear advice given the fact that a) im from a semi-target b) 3.7 is a cut-off, and c) im only 3 hundreths away.
