When an application is submitted in only black and white format, it does not stand out against hundreds of other with the same format, so how to stand out? Though you might be qualified and have good experiences, yet the résumé must be eye-catching.

People being creative when come to applying for jobs. They go above and beyond to catch the attention of hiring managers that includes using visuals to get noticed.

But an image on the résumé is yet unexpected, so the hiring manager might stop and give a second look at your resume. A professional image shows confidence; it must be convincible that you are the right candidate to take up the job.

Instead of just knowing your name, they’ll see your face. This helps to create a strong connection with you that might land you on the job.

Given the research showing that the same resumes with identifiably black or Asian names receive up to 50% fewer responses I could maybe see the utility if your name sounds non-white and your picture makes you seem more white (E.g. if you’re half Asian/Indian with a name corresponding to the that half, or if your name is Jamal and your picture makes it clear you’re not a “thug”), but even then just the weirdness factor might not make it worth it. Also maybe I’ve just been swiping too much, but for women it seems like it would be a lose-lose (either they don’t find you attractive and you take the hit that comes with that, or they do find you attractive and they think you're trying to get the job based on your looks because you decided to include a photo), though I guess if you’re one of those non-target no-internship only thing you can do is hustle/win the lottery types then if you’re attractive it could help (chances are so low anyways that even help from a probable creeper is better than nothing as long as you keep your wits about you).

 

It depends a lot on which country you are in, and the industry. In Australia, you would never put your photo on the CV, for example - it would be just plain weird to do so. I imagine there are some industry exceptions (e.g. modelling etc.).

 

Well according to me yo should not include photo in resume because the main argument is chances of discrimination. The inclusion of image could lead to selection based on appearance. Though such biases are illegal for companies to discriminate against candidates based on age, gender or race, it happens. And an image to a resume could lead to prejudice over appearances. Recruitment these days goes for a lot of background check which includes checking your profile in Naukri, Monster, Shine, Indeed, facebook, Linkedin, Google+, twitter, whatsapp, etc. almost all of which asks you to upload a photograph. This specifically applies to people with at least 2+ years of experience.

Therefore, adding a photo aids in this process as they can tally your digital footprint with the one you have pasted in your resume.

So, I would say, no harm to paste a photo but, be careful about the profile photo you are pasting on your Resume / CV. Learn a bit or two about dress code - it applies to any industry.
