2 year LSE MiM Vs 1 year Mannheim MBA
Hello Everyone I need a little help evaluating my choices for 2011/12
I have secured an offer from both the London School of economics ( for 2 year Masters in Management) & fulltime 1 year Mannheim MBA (germany)
I am currently working in an engineering consultancy & wish to build a career in consulting. I have a 2.5 year experience.
While LSE has a lot of reputation worls wide , Mannheim MBA is the best program in germany , but not known outside.
I would really aprpeciate comments on my options
Thank you.
Personnally I think you've really summed up the pros and cons yourself, in the sense that it really depends on where you want to work, be it Germany or in a foreign country.
Both are very good, but If you want to start in Germany then Mannheim is a quicker option and a more direct route (MBA).
However LSE in my opinion is more recognised internationally. So also look at what you've done in the past in terms of your Bachelor degree (in Germany? Do you really need the LSE brand name?), and build your profile in coherence to that as well.
its also about where you want to enter a new job. i know people who did the LSE MiM and they started at the level your would do with any other MSc or BSc. The MBA is another story.
If you are willing to sacrifice that go for LSE and the brand name. if you feel this would be a waste of time and previous work experience then chose the MBA.
What do you intend to do after business school?
