Too vague. Top 5 publics will open doors but once you get in the mid tier UCs, that's where you have to network your ass off.

there are other factors other than GPA/school

you're not a robot. go network with ppl and see whats out there. ppl with 3.0s and non-targets work at GS from substantial networking and reading/studying finance/modeling materials where kids with 4.0s at Ivies end up doing accounting or some entry level management job (not that thats bad of course)

you can do as much or as little as the effort you give, gosh. even if someone here told you "you can get GS, Moelis, JPM, Evercore, MS" would you think you have a better or worse shot? go out and talk to ppl/apply and see what happens...

Thank you. Just wanted to gauge degree of difficulty / need to network. Hard to tell based of recruitment since so few here are interested in finance as a career. Most top students that are will go to Suntrust IB with a small handful going off the the BBs. Problem is, I am not aware of how many are actively seeking jobs with BBs and how hard those that landed jobs with them had to work/network.

True, there are few women here, but us business majors usually have the advantage over the engineers.

Unfortunately you'll be at a disadvantage when it comes to recruiting. Not all majors are created equal at all schools and Tech's isn't a Top 10 school because of it's business program. If you had a 4.0 in engineering you would be impressive and could leverage that to show that you are clearly a strong quant minded person. There is a reason people joke about jumping on the Management train there. I was a Mechanical Engineer and took a couple classes from the business school to boost my GPA with some easy A's.

Fair enough. Looks like I'll be working against the odds, but I'm sure as hell up for the challenge.
