700 GMAT Score: Good enough?

Just took it and got a 700. Have heard that upcoming application cycles may be more competitive due to the current state of the economy with so many people out of work. Not sure how much truth there is behind this?

Regardless, if I'm aiming for a top 15 program is this realistically a strong enough score?

People act like 700 is the magical threshold, but debating on giving it another go.

Also potentially relevant: I had a 3.7 GPA completing UG and Masters in under 4 years. All else aside, I've got a fairly average profile as an applicant.

If you want to be competitive for M7, shoot for 730+. 700 is definitely not a red flag or anything, but if you got 700 I'm sure you can conceivably achieve 730+ with a bit more studying. It's generally good to be at or above the median for these things that are pretty easy to control (a lot tougher to retroactively fix your GPA or ECs, for instance).

Source: Took it the first time and got a 710, put in a bit more effort into studying the second time around by focusing on my weaker section (quant), and managed to pull off a 750. Besides the registration fee, it really doesn't hurt to try again.
