Advice on EC's and Undergraduate Admissions
For the class of '31.
Future aspirations: Financial Engineering (Quant Research / Trading)
Won't ask for aid unless the school is need-blind.
Feel free to give some advice, for this fellow '09!
Up North, Male, Central / West Asian (not technically Asian), Big Canadian Public school.
Hooks: Immigrant from a low-income country.
Intended Major(s): Economics / Finance / Math / Engineering (some combination of these)
ACT/SAT/SAT II: 1550 SAT, give or take.
UW/W GPA and Rank: 95/100 UW. (Music tanked)
School doesn't rank, but expected 1,2, or 3/300.
Coursework:
Hardest rigor in my school. Took many G11 courses in G10, many G12 courses in G11. Able to graduate a year early, if I wanted.
Traveled 4 hours every May to take AP's, could talk in essays, (school offers none). 6 AP Exams (Including most of the AP STEM classes), 5s and 4s.
Awards:

Extracurriculars:
- City councillor, advocating for +200K youth.
- Contributed to research in Economics and Quant Finance, co-authoring 2 papers. Did research under top university prof's.
- Mathematics research, took part in one of the most rigourus 2-year university-level math classes. Wrote expository papers, and published research with a PhD.
- Fundraising for local hospital, over $75K.
- Student Senator for School Board, voice for 60K students.
- Volunteer (leadership) at a local organization for the poor, 400+ hours.
- Founder and CEO of a Poker learning Website with a lot of users.
- School's Poker club, Quant Finance club, co-founder.
- On the National Directors team for a high-level youth organization (a tier below fbla, deca)
- Martial Arts Trainer.
Essays/LORs/Other:
Essays: 9/10, pretty great essay writing skills.
LORs: 9/10, including some from Prof's from QS World T50's.
