African American previously enlisted Active US Air Force. Low ugrad gpa (2.7) in engineering from a non-top 100 school, but I did a MS in engineering right after ugrad (3.8 gpa). Studying for the gmat, realistically aiming for a 680-710 range
Currently 2.5 years of Big 4 tech consulting, quite a few leadership and community service experiences in and out of my firm worth talking about. 1 promotion, currently managing a team of 4
While working as a consulting, I started a small labor service-based company, grew it to $100k revenue within 2 years (rev #s aren’t that impressive but it’s unique to my story). I manage 8 employees
Also started a small real estate portfolio with 4 residential rental properties by the time of applying in 2021
I’m considering applying R1 in 2021, between work, marriage, and my business, studying for the GMAT has been tough to fit in my daily schedule, but I’m taking it next spring. If I do well enough, I’d like to apply to schools R1/2 fall 2020 (would love advice here)
Post MBA goal: BB IB in the tech sector (software or internet companies) on the west coast, long term goal is to work in a growth equity firm and eventually start my own family office fund
Target schools: Booth (I’ve done a lot of recruiting here and have a large booth network), Sloan (as an engineer/tech enthusiast/entrepreneur I’d like the culture), Wharton, Yale, and either HBS or GSB as a Hail Mary
Not a fan of living in NY so Johnson and CBS I’m not really considering. Maybe open to Tuck, planning a visit to see
You've been doing the right things (except for the UGPA) to have a good chance in the T10,, especially if your GMAT is at the higher end of the range you mention.
Have you considered Haas?
Obviously you will need to address that UGPA in additional information sections. Please see https://blog.accepted.com/what-to-do-about-a-low-gpa/</a">5A's for Your Low GPA. .
You may want to also consider Duke, UNC, and UT especially if your GMAT is in the lower range. However, given your experience and URM status, i would give the schools you are aiming for a try. MIT Sloan is probably less likely to overlook the GPA, but again, give it a try if you really like it.

No I hadn’t considered Haas really. Geographically, it makes complete sense, however, I saw the small class size, and felt my odds would be slim due to the volume of applicants to number of a a available slots. Do you feel Haas maybe a little more receptive to the gpa ?
