Any UChic business Econ students here?

What was your experience with the degree?

I just got accepted into UChic, and the three things I was most uncertain about the uni was an overly difficult course load and a lack of a social life.

Does the business Econ program help address these issues (apparently easier, less weird/more social classmates)? I also think being able to take courses and network at Booth is a big plus.

If you know what classes to take there are absolutely joke classes but you will rightly get shamed for it though. All I can say is that the kids that placed into top groups were still taking the harder classes. Social life is fine if you’re in a frat or know a lot of people as is everywhere else.

Weirdos are the kids in fundamentals or snitchcock. If you only take biz econ people are automatically going to assume you’re stupid.

Self selection. The kids that placed very well generally are pretty engaged on campus either in running clubs or doing something pretty academic on the side too. The biz econ only people end up hating the school since 1) everyone thinks they’re stupid 2) they think everyone else is stupid because they think IB is life. It’s honestly hard to put it into words, but I think somewhat challenging yourself either academically or outside of school (doing club work) makes you come across as a whole different calibre of candidate, and I think you’ll know what I mean when you get to meet and compare both of these types.
