Attending Indiana University this fall and want to eventually join the IB workshop

As per the title, I'm an incoming student at IU Kelley this fall (directly admitted) and I desire to eventually join the IB workshop but I heard this can sometimes come down to who you know as the upper classmen have a say in the admissions. Is there anything particular I should start doing right when I get on campus to help my chances besides grind my grades out and join finance-related clubs? Would joining a frat possibly help my chances with upper classmen who are in the IB themselves? Is there a particualr frat that a lot of them are historically in or is there any good way to meet them in general? Insight from alumnis/people who know alumnis who were in IB workshop would be greatly appreciated.

IU alum here- take the first two IB classes (F228 or whatever it's called now), join a business frat, and have some outside interests. Nobody likes a total chad. Biz frats are usually very well-connected within the IBW and CMBW, social frats are a major distraction since a lot of guys aren't in Kelly/don't have the same motivations. The larger student orgs (KSG, tamid, WIB, and many many others) will also have students in the workshops.

Unfortunately, your sexuality and/or skin color is now an application consideration for IBW under the auspices of "diversity". There is a near 50% racial/sexual orientation quota, so if you don't fall under these categories, you'll have a significantly harder time getting in. Welcome to the insanity.

PM with any more questions and good luck!
