Back office to biz school
Hi All,
One of the most common themes I've heard since grindin to get out of back office is, "if you get stuck, just go to b school." Seems to be a pretty common theme.
How probable is it to go to a top 15 b school w strong leadership and promotions without direcly generating revenue? I know that no two applications are alike, just trying to figure how this stacks up when you start submitting apps.
All the best.
it's very possible. name brand isn't everything especially for schools closer to 15. grant it you'll need to be just as qualified
Smoke the GMAT and write good essays. That will give you a good shot anywhere. Additionally, make sure you have a good 'story' for your interviews about why you ended up doing what you are doing.
Appreciate it guys
You are fine. If you have added value in some way to your firm, then revenue is not the only thing. I'm more concerned that your reasons for going to business school are to get out of a frustrating situation. It's probably the way you framed it, but you want a broader career vision, I would think.
If you have good work progression, taken on extra projects to add more value to your company, showed yourself as someone everyone can count on to get the job done, than that will put you more than halfway there. Business schools are also looking for people who challenge themselves, and you can do that both at work and in the rest of your life. They look at the whole picture.
I feel this is a bit general, so if you have specific questions, come to my WSO thread... I know, I am shilling for it this morning, and ask away! //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/b-school-qa-w-betsy-massar-of-master-adm…
Best to you, Betsy
